Bribie Island & Caboolture Drive

A drive through this coastal region takes in the northern extremity of Brisbane's Moreton Bay and Islands across to Bribie Island with its Donnybrook, Toorbul and Beachmere townships, sweeping around to Deception Bay.

What to see while you're there?

The natural environment is a prime feature of this area, and at the top is the beautiful Pumicestone Passage. This internationally renowned marine park is worth any drive. Bribie Island National Park, Kakadu Bird Hide and Buckley's Hole Conservation Park are all in this area, too, and are not to be missed.

The White Patch Art Gallery and the Bicentennial Arts Centre are worth stopping in to see before heading back to the mainland.

Further south, head to the Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology - just off Bribie Island Road, this museum houses antiques and fine arts from around the world and is regarded internationally as one of the best museums of its type.

Head to the top end of Deception Bay, and experience the wonderful serenity of Beachmere and Godwin Beach. These are great spots to throw in a fishing line. Being such a quiet environment makes these ideal spots to watch wildlife, particularly birds, so don't forget your binoculars. Take a moment to marvel at the spectacular view of Deception Bay from the top end as it wraps around the top of the Redcliffe Peninsula. Amazing mangrove forests can be found almost all the way around this bay.
