Northern Moreton Bay

Redcliffe

The historic township of Redcliffe is one of Moreton Bay’s most cosmopolitan and interesting areas. Residents are proud of their award-winning city, claiming two awards in the State and National Tidiest Towns Awards – ‘Queensland’s Tidiest Town’ in 2005-06 and Australia’s most ‘Environmentally Innovative’ in 2006-07.

The site of Queensland’s first European settlement, Redcliffe Peninsula boasts an impressive combination of experiences, taking full advantage of its location on Moreton Bay, with water based activities taking centre stage.

Redcliffe Jetty is a day tripper’s delight with trips to Moreton Island, as well as whale watching tours from June to November. The jetty is also a top spot when it comes to fishing. Activities such as boating, windsurfing, and surf skiing are all popular in Redcliffe, as is swimming at Sutton’s Beach – the closest patrolled beach to Brisbane’s CBD. You can learn to dive here too, with operators conducting courses for novices through to experienced divers.
While cruising on the bay, you are likely to see dolphins as well as turtles, dugongs and whales during their migration season.

Redcliffe is also ideal for thrill-seekers, with beach sky-diving, and joy flights providing adrenalin-pumping excitement as well as fabulous views from Brisbane to the Glass House Mountains.

Redcliffe offers an array of historical and cultural activities including a museum, complete with interactive exhibitions, and art galleries. Historical and cultural festivals and events are a regular feature on Redcliffe’s calendar.

The many beautiful parks and public spaces are a favourite place for families and friends to gather for picnics, barbecues and casual outdoor activities. One of the most popular spots is Settlement Cove Lagoon, which features an artificial lagoon and plenty of playground equipment - perfect for children.

And let’s not forget food! Lovers of seafood in particular know Redcliffe well for its many quality eateries featuring fresh local seafood. Award winning Redcliffe is abundant in highly accoladed restaurants including Seafood Restaurant, Teppanyaki Room, Seafood Markets and Oyster Bar.
