Northern Moreton Bay Tourist Drive

This drive will take you through the picturesque heritage suburbs of Sandgate, Shorncliffe and Brighton, and connect through to the Redcliffe Peninsula.

What to see while you are there?

Thoughout Sandgate and Shorncliffe you will see superb traditional seaside architecture, and there are plenty of spots to stop for a picnic or take a walk. Along the way - just south of Shorncliffe are the 665-hectare Boondall wetlands. Heaps of walking tracks and picnic spots here, too.

Continue through to Redcliffe over the Houghton Highway with it's beautiful sister bridge, the historic Hornibrook Bridge, mirroring it's span across the river.

This drive is quick and easy and definitely warrants a daytrip visit. Alternate between views of the bay or take in the wildlife-abundant wetland reserves.

For picnics or a spot to eat your fish 'n' chips, Settlement Cove Lagoon or anywhere along Redcliffe's 22 kilometres of soft, sandy beaches are highly recommended.

Bring a bike and cycle Redcliffe's 35 kilometres of bikeways, dine in one of the many waterfront or waterview restaurants, fly a kite on the espalande at Clontarf or take in some of the amazing history of the area - lots of historical walks around Settlement Cove Lagoon plus a city museum and an art gallery, vintage movies and much more!
