Sandgate/Shorncliffe Foreshore
The Moreton Bay waters at Sandgate and Shorncliffe offer another excellent cycling destination with dedicated on and off-road paths stretching the entire length of this beautiful foreshore.
Make it a real challenge by starting off at Shorncliffe Parade in the morning and cycling all the way along the esplanade through Sandgate and Brighton and over the Hornibrook Bridge onto the Redcliffe peninsula. See the wading birds and crabs on the tidal flats, or perhaps even horses being exercised from the many nearby racing stables. Stop on the way if you like for a swim at the Sandgate Swimming Pool.
Hop on your bike to discover the Sandgate Heritage Trail winding through the main commercial area, or cycle through the residential streets to see wonderful examples of colonial architecture that make this precinct so wonderfully distinctive. Stop for a break at Deagon Wetlands to view the wildlife or one of the lagoons or a beautiful landscaped park in the area.
