It’s no surprise that the water of Moreton Bay itself is the centerpiece of the many exciting things to do and experience in the region. Plenty of boating, water sports and diving experiences are waiting for you here. Come in, the water’s fine!

Charter yachts are available for hire, and organised fishing, dive or bay cruises are plentiful throughout the region.

Get over to the Redland region or the Redcliffe peninsula where jetskiing and windsurfing have become popular pastimes for Brisbanites. Head to Wellington Point which has become a mecca for the relatively new action sport of kite-surfing. Lots of fun, and almost as exciting to watch, too!

For some ‘people-powered’ options, head over to North Stradbroke or Moreton Island and try sea-kayaking, and canoeing or Coochiemudlo Island for aqua-biking.

Charter a boat from one of the operators at Scarborough, Bribie Island, Manly or Raby Bay for a day on the bay deep sea fishing. Don’t forget your camera for the ‘one that got away’. There are plenty of boat ramps too, to launch your own boat. Find these at Bribie Island, Beachmere, Deception Bay, Scarbourough, Margate, Woody Point, Clontarf, Shorncliffe, Wynnum and Manly.

Always wanted to try surfing? This is no pipe dream - you can learn to catch a wave at one of the great surf beaches at North Stradbroke or Bribie Island. If you’d rather leave it to the experts, come to Main Beach on North Stradbroke Island for the annual ‘Straddie Assault’ surfing tournament which attracts top surfers from around Australia.

For the ultimate wet ‘n’ wild experience, find one of the tour operators offering boom-netting to passengers traveling to one of the islands. Just the thing to cool things down if it’s getting a little warm on the boat. Dolphin Wild Cruises departs from Redcliffe, and Manly Eco-Tours departs from Manly Boat Harbour – both operators offer boom-net rides on their tours.
